The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

I'll try to transcribe my phone blog over to this so y'all can at least get an idea of what I got to do for 11 days.

"Overseas flights can be boring.  Free alcohol is great.  First German bier was amazing."

"[Flying over] Rotterdam in the morning.  First view of the [European] continent.  Small breakfast.  The urban layout makes no sense, yet does."

"Munich is rainy.  Nice airport.  Prices for a soda here blow my mind.  The language immersion is stressful, but fortunately, I'm picking my German back up."

"After two crazy days of performances, the tourists come out.  Loreto is our first stop.  Will be there for a few hours."
While in Loreto, we went to the Church of the Holy House.  This church houses what many believe is the house that the Virgin Mary lived in.  The crusaders brought it back to Croatia, where it was then transported by ship across the Adriatic.  We also got to shop in the shops on the street leading out of the square.

No phone entry on Venice, but here's my thoughts in a nutshell.  It's nice, but felt like it was being overly commercialized.  St. Mark's cathedral was beautiful (if the floor was a bit lopsided).  I didn't get deep enough to see the residential areas.

"Ascoli Piceno is better than Venice [in my opinion].  One Way Pizza, about 500 meters off the square is a great deal.  Nice views of the mountains from the valley.  Would come back earlier in the year."
This day was cut short due to weather (and our fatigue from visiting Venice the day before.

"Assisi, the home of St. Francis.  Gorgeous city without the clothing of retail therapy.  Climbed to the top to see the medieval castle.  Wonderful vistas with visibility for 50-60 kilometers in one direction."

"San Benedetto was alright.  It's located right on the Adriatic Sea and can be seen from the eastern side of Ripatransone [the city we were staying at].  I'd say it's a dirty version of Charleston, SC.  Shopping in the market was insane."

You know, for a week that started so well, why the hell do I feel like such shit?  Who's Wheaties did I accidentally piss in?

I'm not sure why my motivation at work is waning, much less my attitude.  It's bad when one of the new people have noticed.  Okay, I might have an explanation, but the validity of it is worse than that given by many politicians.  I'm lonely, bored, and sick of working opposite days as everyone else I fucking know.

Should I be?  Probably not to the extent that I feel right now.  It isn't helping that I even know I shouldn't feel this jaded.  But the last 36 hours just have seen me spiral emotionally.  This yearning for companionship, only seems to prove something a friend said a few months ago.  I seek validation in the form of relationships.  Why the hell I do, is still not confirmed.  But I finally saw it for what it was last night, and only had it clinched as I looked back on the last 5 months.

I wish this wasn't the case, it only makes me cringe that much more at the thought of how my social life is in shambles since last year.  It also made me realize that I only have a lot of acquaintances with people.  I do a lot of the reaching it seems with them, but the one where I should have done the reaching, I completely screwed the pooch (in different circumstances).

And what sucks even more, what few times that they reach, I'm not available because of work/the museum/class and I catch  flak for it.  In the end, when I do get a chance to go out, I feel like the mooch for free tickets and the like.

Ugh...where's that hug when you fucking need it...

Where do you find your personal strength?

Sponsored by Nature Made

View 501 Answers

I saw this question as a suggestion for writer's block, and I figured I'd give this a shot.

I don't completely understand where I find my personal emotional, physical, and psychological strength. I just know that I have a reserve of it ready to be tapped.

For example:  Last semester, I don't know where I pulled it from.  Between 18 credits I was officially taking, working 25-30 hours a week, observation hours for my education classes, practice time, and stuff I had to do at home, it's any wonder I didn't just collapse by October of exhaustion.  Yet, I kept pushing on.  8 am classes had to be attended.  I was not going to be able to afford retaking anything.  Work had to be done.  Not showing up wasn't acceptable.

Okay, I think I found my source. I find something to fixate on, fight through the storm, and once I get there, relax, recuperate, and find the next objective.

I thought I'd be able to deal with this better, but, I haven't

I still miss having her, but, I'm not sure if it's just my body telling me that or if it's my heart.  At times, I want to just yell out and ask to get back together, but I know she's moved on.  I also know I was the one who ended it because I thought it would be in our best interest to stop now instead of fighting later.  I've found that I'm fighting myself now.

It was my decision, I know I have to live with it, but, it seems to be eating at my very core.  The waves of uneasiness have not assailed me as oft they used to.  Yet, their destruction on my spirit is greater with each successive crash.  It makes me awkward and much more out of control than I usually am.  I'm prone to impulsiveness.  But, what am I to do?  I thought having distractions with class, work, and ensembles would help, but my mind only serves to latch onto the regret as so many limpets to the keel of a ship.

Enough rambling from me...

[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Like Ann said...I'm doing this, right?

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No.  Absolutely not.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
For it in very, very limited situations.  Last resort.  I do not want it to be abused by people who do not want to use contraceptives and still don't want to suffer the consequences of failure to use them.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
No.  Do I think we have the right ones running, nope/

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
For serial and mass murderers, hell yes.  And they get it just as good as they gave.

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I'm indifferent to it.  If it is legalized, you regulate and tax the hell out of it.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Better pre-marital than extra-marital.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes.  Do I believe that I have to wear a cross everyday and carry three bibles with me at all times to be saved?  No.

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Ann had probably the best response to any question like this.  Marriage itself, is a sacred act, bound by the church.  It is their prerogative on whether or not to allow it.  Marriage, is also a form of legal union, recognized by the state.  I do believe, that those unions should be allowed.   I have met an increasing amount of homosexual men and women, who are more loyal to their partner than many more heterosexual people I know.    Leave the church out of the state, and leave the state out of the church.  It's the church's prerogative to choose to recognize the civil union of a homosexual couple.  The state does not, and should not force them to do so.  The church should not force the state to do the same.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Illegally.  Darn right I don't like it.  Then again, if we could get a majority of the leeches on wel-fare to take the jobs the immigrants are, this problem wouldn't be so bad.  (Also if the employers for said jobs would actually paid an honest wage, this problem wouldn't be so bad, either).

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Should she abort it? Absolutely not. Whether she keeps it or gives it up for adoption is up to her and her family (and the father). I don't think just because she's 12 means she will make a bad mother. However, the chances of a 12-year-old carryinga baby to term are slim, anyway.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Yes.  OR, allow for the parents to teach kids how to responsibly handle the substance.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
When we finish the job.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
Terminal patients who have exhausted everything, and sign a contract with a notary public stating that that is their desire.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes.  Children these days aren't disciplined enough by parents who just want to "be their friends".  Unfortunately, children also need a parent who will push them in the right direction when they stray.  At a young age, they do not understand "why", so know amount of talking about what could happen will sink in.  Did your parents tell you not to touch a hot stove?  How many of you did it anyway?  What taught you the lesson better?

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
You'd have to shoot me first.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Neither candidate.  One will croak in office, the other has a high risk of being assassinated because of his race.

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
I know I will be judged.  Get over it.

New year has started, new things already happening.

I'll actually play horn in a studio recital.  Dear God, I wouldn't wish having to hear that on any of you.  But, most of you lj'ers aren't even at CU, so, you're fortunate.

Music fundamentals should be cake for the next few weeks.  Thank god for my high school directors.

Chem, Thank God for Mr. Vlcek.

Language Diction, dear God, I'm going to die early on, but kick ass later.

Voice lessons I'll let you know about later, after I have my first one.

Horn lessons, next Tuesday, then Thursdays for the rest of the semester (adding to the two day death two step).  Thursdays will see me in class/lessons from 8-2:30 straight.  I may die.  Wednesdays are 9-5:30.  I'll be asking myself, "why, dear God, why did I put myself through this?" by March.

MCL camp in 11 days.  Once again, refer to the end of last paragraph.

Work, well, sucks.

There's your update.  G'nite.

Your Social Dysfunction:
Happy

You're a happy person - you have a good amount of self-esteem, and are socially healthy. While this isn't a social dysfunction per se, you're definitely not normal. Consider yourself lucky: you walk that fine line between 'normal' and being outright narcissistic. You're rare - which is something else to be happy about.
